Folkuniversitetet Göteborg (SE) is a Swedish liberal adult education organisation, consisting of five regional offices attached to the universities of Stockholm, Uppsala, Göteborg, Lund and Umeå. Our activities stretch from offering non-formal courses and study circles in a variety of subjects, to secondary schools for youths and formal adult education commissioned by the municipalities. We also carry out labour market activities, such as job coaching commissioned by the labour bureaus or projects funded by the ESF.
Bildningsalliansen (FI) is the umbrella for non-formal adult education providers offering study circles, courses, lectures, and folk high schools in Swedish. As an umbrella BA is responsible for providing further training of teachers in adult education, of advocating for adult education, and for developing services to the sector. BA is active in NVL, Nätverket för Vuxnas Lärande.
Opintotoiminnan Keskusliitto ry (FI), The Association for Educational Activity, maintains an adult education centre called Opintokeskus Sivis-opintokeskus (OK Study Centre). It is owned by an umbrella NGO of 67 Finnish NGOs. We reach over 150,000 learners annually. Our organisation supports members’ educational activities pedagogically and financially, and offer courses and projects especially in the field of active citizenship (including ICT skills), NGO management and training skills. These activities include taught courses (ca. 5,500 annually) and peer learning groups (ca. 1,700 annually). We also offer vocational education, publish textbooks and other educational materials, and organise arts events. A key target group of our activities are trainers of volunteers.
Fræðslumiðstöð atvinnulífsins (IS), The Education and Training Service Centre is to be a collaborative forum for adult education and vocational training in cooperation with other educational bodies operating under the auspices of the member associations. The Centre targets those who have not completed the upper secondary level of education and develops RPL strategy in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture. The ETSC is a centre for educational consulting and the development of adult education and develops courses for teachers in various areas of adult education.
